A modern seed factory will ensure quality seed preparation

Another phase of the expansion of Agrokoncerns’ seed preparation factory has just been completed. Significant improvements have been made that will allow for even faster and higher quality seed production. Seed storage capacity has been increased by 6,000 tonnes. We have also installed modern seed drying equipment and purchased a new Danish pickling line, which will enable us to prepare 250 tonnes of seed per day, up to a total of 400 tonnes. “We are constantly improving our seed preparation process, ensuring high quality seed, fast delivery and carefully selected varieties. We select varieties through a variety of trials: we test varieties for winter hardiness through provocation trials in Dotnuva, we test varieties at the AgroITC Innovation and Research Centre, at state research stations, and we carry out additional trials on our own farms and in production areas. In total, around 350 different varieties are tested. We grow all the seeds we offer to farmers on our own farms, thus ensuring quality and controlling the entire seed preparation process,” says Modestas Žemaitis, Head of Seeds.
